Apparently, students are not the only ones in need of improvement.
On 19th April 2016, four schools of Jhule VDC, Dolakha participated in ECCA’s initiative programme meant for all school stakeholders and students. Parents and teachers from all four schools (Amar Higher Secondary School, Jana Prabhat Secondary School, Janta Lower Secondary School, NayaJyoti Primary School) plus a social mobilizer and a VDC representative took part in 3 days long School Environment Planning and Visioning Training where as students separately participated in ECCA Camp conducted at each school that continued for 4 days.
“For me, being in Parents Teachers Association meant holding some form of responsibilities. But practically I never knew my role in school environment improvement was this massive”, said one of the parents during the training. 28 participants went through intensive training that involved successful school management strategies and quality education development for students. During the training, the participants actively developed a plan for WASH infrastructures’ need for their respective schools.
On the other hand, ECCA Camps were recipes of amusement and information for students in all 4 schools. Each ECCA Camp trained 30 students incorporating about 120 students in total. The camp involved life skill activities, WASH(Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities), First Aid and paper recycling techniques.
Three nature clubs were established and students developed for six months long WASH focused action plans on their own. Primary school leveled students of the remaining schools were led to form a group where members were introduced to similar responsibilities.
First Aid kit and 5 paper recycling frames were provided to each school.
