ECCA conducted 3 days Counselor Training Camp in Mirge Health Post of Mirge VDC, Dolakha from 17th– 19th March 2016. The training focused on making youths aware about sustainable school environment improvement plans and proceedings. Importance of stakeholder involvement and visioning process for long term development of schools as well as Life Skills and aspects involving WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and environment were highlights of the training. The camp welcomed 16 youth representatives from 14 projects schools of ECCA in Mirge and Gairimudi VDCs of Dolakha.
“I never knew that problems created through insanitation and unsafe drinking water could be prevented smallest steps of precautions I shall share my knowledge get back to the school.”shared Ganesh Bahadur Tamang from Himalaya Lower Secondary School.
District Development Committee’s Representative Mr. Narayan Sedai and Project Co-ordination Emergency Relief of medico international Mr. Hendrik Slusarenka also visited the camp during the training sessions.
“This training camp has initiated enthusiasm among all people here. In upcoming days, schools can readily contribute more towards improvement plans for quality education in the school”, said Mr. Sedai. “ECCA has provided huge support for youth involvement and mobilization for positive changes to take place in the society”, he added.
Mr. Slusarenka’s motivating speech became a boosting factor for the trainees. ECCA’s executive director Mr.Yogendra Chitrakar as well as ECCA program officers added up to the level of encouragement during the training.
The trained youths will now be provided an opportunity to facilitate and train other local youths, school students and representatives through their learning in different locations of Dolakha.
